Blog 2: Why did I choose this programme/career?

When I was little I always did crafts like necklaces and bracelets. My dream was sell all of those creation in the fairs. On the other hand, I loved paint. When I had 8 years, my mom registered me in a paint workshop for develop my abilities. In that workshop all the people were older than me then I ended up getting bored and I left.

I remember a conversation that I had with my dad when I had 14 year old. He explained me, for the first time, what the architecture is. Obviously, I gobsmacked with that and from that moment I decided to study  that.

Also, some time ago, I had a friend who studied design in FAU. He shared with me everything he knew about design and, as well, he showed me his works. I was very close to him and he can motivated me.

That’s why I decided to have two options: architecture or design (Also, in one moment I wanted to studying geography but it’s because my father studied that. And now I thinking that I’m so FAU).

Extensión - Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo - Universidad de ...

Anyway, I made the PSU in 2018 and I didn’t reach the score to enter to architecture in the University of Chile (I know, sad mood). So I decided to studying design in the same university. At first, I signed up to change me to the career inside the university, but I realized that I do like design. Honestly I love what am I studying now and I can’t imagine studying another.

In my future I want to work like an industrial designer. I would love to work designing functional object. And specializing me in materials like wood, glass, etc.

Blog 1: My autobiography

Hi bro, how are you? I hope you're okay and this current situation isn't damaging your mental health. I'm Amanda and I’m going to talk about me, so you know me better.

My full name is Amanda Contreras Flores. I'm 19 years old and I was born on June 7, 2000 in Santiago, Chile (yes… this year I will spend my birthday in quarantine).

I've always lived in the capital and in the same house. Until I was 17 years old, I lived with my both parents and my two little siblings. Three years ago, my parents get divorced and actually I live with my mom and well, my two siblings are still here too. I see my father a lot even though I don't live with him.

The true is that he lives in an apartment located very close to my house, and we have a very good father-daughter relationship, which makes us see each other more often than usual.

Talking a little bit about the monsters (yes, my siblings), I can't say much. They're both still in school. There's my brother Martín, he's 16 years old, and Mariana, the little one. She's 11 years old.

As for my studies, I was always at the same school. I entered school in the year 2006 and I (finally) graduated in 2018 in the Institución Teresiana's school. Actually, I'm studying my second year of design in the University of Chile. I aspire to specialize in Industrial and Services Design.

In my free time (and of course not in quarantine) I love spending time with my friends. I'm scout and I working with boys from 13 to 15 years. I’m trying to be vegetarian. Also, I like draw and experiment creative things. I like astrology and everything related to the esoteric things. I love learn all about the zodiacal signs and their elements, the astrological chart, and understand the energies that each person, place and feeling has.

Finally, in quarantine I spend my free time watching movies and series (on Netflix), I've also seen some anime series like Naruto or Attack on Titan. Also, I’m in the process of learning to read the tarot.
